New Shops
On the corner of Court Street next to the famous Court Bar and Grill is a quaint little slice of heaven for all the art enthusiasts. Nestled away in what will become the new home of what is Gallery14 I sat down with Devan Gillispie where she expressed her hopes for what this place will bring to the community. Devan shared that this shop would include the hopes of retail and interactive instruction blend harmoniously side by side, it will include a section for featured artists within the community as well as pieces of Devan’s collection in which upcycling is brought new life into the everyday simplistic items. She started her journey as she scoured thrift shops, flea markets, and every place in between to find the beauty behind the loss. Her keen eye has sparked her love for restoring items to their former glory or beyond their expectations in a materialistic world that prioritizes buying rather than restoring. She takes her attitude of restoration into the value of making her environment feel comfortable for all who enter. Although work in the shop is still taking place her efforts to allow everyone to be fully seen and heard have surpassed standard hospitality. The precision into curating an environment in which everyone is artistic despite knowing, or not, has allowed Devan to take in the new possibilities of what this shop can do for the community.
*You can contact Gallery 14 through their Facebook page for more information. To have your art featured at Gallery 14, more information will be posted on their socials closer to opening on how you can be involved.
On the outskirts of the Main drag sits the new home of a sit-down restaurant. Doug’s Carryout and Vault is opening its second location in Pomeroy! In addition to the restaurant Michael Douglas is offering an event space right next door to the new home of Doug’s Carryout and Vault. This event space allows space for private events while also having a separate area for food, coats, etc. Catering is offered when booking an event and you can reach out to Michael Douglas for booking your next event or for further information. In addition to an event space now being available, the upper level of both buildings have been turned into Airbnb spots. In addition to booking that event space you can book that Airbnb as well. Michael expressed that while in the works of building their second restaurant they wanted to offer an affordable space for the community of Pomeroy to enjoy. To book the Airbnb check out Madman’s Riverfront on the Airbnb app.
For five years, Michael Douglas has co-owned Doug’s Carryout & Grocery, later adding Doug’s Vault to allow a full experience of restaurant and bar experience to the Southeastern Community of Meigs County. Currently residing in Albany, Ohio; Michael Douglas shared the excitement of branching out to bring their vision to the residents of Pomeroy while working alongside his wife, Amanda. They have taken their partnership in business in stride while also supporting the community as well. They have been major partners in community events mostly geared toward the future of tomorrow, our children. Hosting and participating in toy drives, back to school drives, trunk or treat, etc. Their passion to give back has been out of this world in showing their love towards the open arms they have received since starting their journey and they hope to make more of an impact as time progresses.
Michael Douglas shared that what you can expect from opening Doug’s Carryout & Vault is to have the experience of a sit-down restaurant while also experiencing the night life of the bar in the evenings. Michael shared that their vision is to create a space for everyone to catch up with friends no matter the time of day. With their passion and drive behind their hearts and eyes, Michael and Amanda hope to achieve their goal of bringing their “love thy neighbor” vibe from their origin spot to an already strong community. In hopes of bringing that same energy as those around them and enriching the streets we walk. You can contact and visit Doug’s Carryout & Grocery as well as Doug’s Vault in Albany with the information below as well as gaining further information of their event space in Pomeroy. Once closer to opening there will be more release of information via social media.
